About

Hey guys.

My name is Simon. I live in Ireland (boo) and study English and philosophy at NUI Maynooth (yay). I’m 19 years old, about 5’8 in height, and I weigh roughly 150 pounds. I have large, turquoise eyes and a steadily greying head of (currently) brown hair, the shade of which I have christened ‘grandfather’s shoe’. I hold a part-time job as a peer tutor at the English Department, NUI Maynooth.

I started this blog with the express intention of improving my way with words. However, as trying to find ideas for literary and philosophical posts became more and more laborious, I realised where my passion lies: reviews of things. Mainly movies, as I’m told I have a knack for critiquing them, but also video games and albums. I would love to get into professional film critique and perhaps if I practise enough here, that could be realised!

(Bear in mind that I live in Ireland, so many of the films I review will have been out in the USA and elsewhere for ages already. I get to them as quickly as I can!)

Hopefully you’ll have as much fun reading what I scribble down (type?) as I did in doing so. Feel free to comment, regardless of whether or not we see eye to eye. If you’d like to ask me a question, or if you’d just like to get to know me better, check out my infinitely less formal tumblr account – mernagh.tumblr.com. Thanks in advance for checking out mah blerg!

Oh, and here’s my face:

Simon.

    Hi Simon,

I’m working for Limelight Communications PR agency and we often promote upcoming film releases.

Do you have a direct email address that we could contact you via to send on material about our upcoming films should you want to feature them on your blog?

    Thanks,

    Jessica
